I had no idea...

This week I added something to my list of "FIRSTS." The day after Thanksgiving my husband and I joined up with two other couples and we took a LIMO RIDE! Cool huh? It was my first time in a limousine, and although we were casually dressed, I definitely felt like I was going to prom or some other big event. Truth is, we just went to a Christmas Musical Production in Idaho Falls - (which turned out to be amusing, but not overly impressive for the price we paid.) The ride there was more entertainment for me than the actual show! The outside of the limo was white, the windows were dark, and there were blue/purple/Black lights shining from underneath the car. It looked really cool. Once the doorman came around to open the door for us (which I took note of because it made me feel famous) we all climbed in. I was very surprised at the interior. There was a long bench that wrapped the entire length of the limo on the left side and the other side was a small drink bar including goblets, ice, bottled water or soda. It was dimly lit for a romantic ambiance, but then decorated with very colorful lights - they actually changed colors every few minutes. There were itty bitty ones on the ceiling that looked like red, green, yellow, blue, and purple stars. It almost felt like we were in the 80's because of the bright colors and "The Eagles" band playing on the TV. (Yes, there were a few small screen TVs distributed throughout the limo.) The speakers were also brightly colored and sound activated so the colors moved as the music did.
We could not get a decent picture with our camera, but I found a picture online that looks kind of like ours did:

I had no idea that is what the inside of a limo would look like! I guess they could all be very different, but I really was shocked when I climbed in to see how it was set up. I guess I always pictured just rows of seats like in a normal car with an aisle up the middle - but this makes so much more sense. I had pictured fancy black leather interior or something like that, but instead it was like bling-bling party! I was also kind of surprised that there were no seatbelts and ours did not have a sun roof that opened. Anyway, we had a great time exploring the spaciousness and drinking ice water from goblets. hahaha. I am sure the limo guy sensed our lack of class, but I guess he doesn't care as long as the hicks brought money :) A big thank you to my friend for the invite.

Even though adult life comes with oodles of problems and a whole onslaught of responsibility, I find it seriously satisfying to be able to make outlandish decisions or splurge on a freakishly fun activity like this if we want to. Sometimes I think it is so cool that I have the ability to acquire the means necessary or go out on a limb to do something crazy, fun, or even ridiculously stupid - just because I can choose to if I want. Once in a while it just gets to that point, doesn't it? Is it just me? Am I too spoiled or high-maintenance? Perhaps I should do a self evaluation to see if I have lost a little of the moderate contentment my Mom instilled in me so well...? Nope, I have decided that the moderation is still there (Thanks Mom) - It is just an appreciation for life experience that causes me to enjoy the little luxuries now and then.

Spoiled? Yes. ;)
High-maintenance? NO WAY! not you at all, are you kidding?
Lost sense of moderate contentment? nope. :) Not that either. :)

That's why you deserve all that fancy fun stuff, cuz you are one who will not let it get to your head! :)

Want to know my exciting splurge of the week? Wendy's french fries and frosty... mmmmm.... I'm not kidding. At that moment I was every bit as satisfied as I could have been in a limo! LOL French fries and a frosty are my weakness! :)

Eh... someday we will get to the non-student life... and then you can teach me how to act in a limo and how to enjoy the finer things while being content with regular life. :)
