Look what I made!

In the name of organization, Spring Cleaning as some may call it, (or for my own sanity) I have created a way to prevent the stack of mail from piling up on our kitchen table! You know what I'm talking about -Bills, statements, insurance cards, announcements, advertisements, coupons, etc. spread all over the counter. Half of it is garbage, but you're not sure if your husband wants to see any of it before you start tossing papers. You end up putting everything in one pile in the corner, but the next day more mail comes and, of course, it is spread all over the counter. The pile in the corner keeps getting bigger because some of it is stuff you don't have time to do right away, and it all gets mixed up with the papers you are supposed to mail out... you with me? THAT pile. It drives me a little crazy.

So here is what we are gonna do - Sort it into 5 easy sections. Mine, His, Bills, Outgoing mail, and other.

These are giant clothes pins I found at a craft store - SCORE! With a little paint, paper and ribbon I decorated myself a mail organizer. I figure that once I have seen everything for the day I throw away the majority, take care of the bills, then put the remaining stuff in His section. He then throws away what he doesn't want or it puts it in other appropriate categories. Okay Okay, I realize there are some flaws to this plan. Like the fact that there are WAY more categories I should have made. That I am not sure where I am going to put it exactly. That Jake's section might get unusually full. OR....the fact that we have a bad habit of throwing mail on the counter and it probably won't go away just because I made this... But I figure it's worth a try. And let's not forget that it satisfied the "must be crafty" in me for the day.

Now look at some more pictures because I am proud of my ridiculous creation :)

This is the "OTHER" category. It just says "remember" on the bottom because I didn't have ribbon that said "other" or "miscellaneous" or "I don't know what to do with this paper so I will put it over here." Do you think they make that ribbon somewhere??? hahaha.

The giant clothes pin for Bills and the one on the right for outgoing mail. Let's hope it is not misunderstood and the entire wad of mail is clamped in the "mail" section.

That's right... his and hers giant clothes pin organizational sections :)

Jake's section is the as-manly-as-I-could-make-it clothes pin. Buttons are guyish right? As long as it is on an all brown pattern and not involving bows. haha

The colors aren't showing up real great on my own personal giant clothes pin. Unfortunate... it is the best looking one you know. :) And for those of you who are wondering why it says Ness instead of RaNette - it is because that is what my husband calls me (nickname he gave me while we were dating which involves the Lock-Ness monster. Said nickname stuck like nobody's business and it is what I will forever be known as by anyone he associates with.) Convenient really... since it would have been squishy trying to get my whole name on there with that size of letters.

I fully expect an onslaught of comments about this plan; whether it be kindly acknowledging my effort or mocking my destined-to-fail project. Both are welcome :)

ooh! i like it! I like it! it's kind of hard to see really how big it is. Give me an estimate of how big these paperclips are and how far apart they're spaced... because of course I may be copying your design. We SOOO need something like this!!!
