Crafty Cook

Every time I go to make dinner or whip up some kind of dessert it takes a considerable amount of time to dig through my drawer and find the right recipe. I go through my stack of folded up papers, magazine clippings, scraps and scribbles... and then usually find the one I need crumpled in the corner under the oven mitt or discover that it has fallen behind the counter. Enough is enough. While I have been sick and my hubby has been out of town (for his buddies wedding), I have solved the organization problem by making this awesome recipe box.

It turned out to be a bigger project than I bargained for, but I love how it turned out. The red tones match my kitchen and I'm very excited to get all the cards put into it. Each category will have it's own set of cards that will match the pattern on the front. Here's a close up of each section ---

This is the decorative plaque sitting in an easel on top.

Red Stripes = Appetizer

Black Swirls = Soup

Leafy Red Damask = Salad

Black diamonds = Main Course

Red Swirls= Side Dish

Polkadots = Dessert!

The pictures are a little fuzzy, but you get the idea. It is going to hang above my stove where I can easily access it, and I hope it will help me be more creative with making meals as well! What's for dinner? ---- I don't know, let's pull out a box and pick a card! Brilliant :)

That is ridiculously brilliant and cute. See, you're one of those married girls that isn't getting lazier, you're getting more creative and what not. I approve. :)
