Jake had a funny stomach ache the beginning of June. Like a severe side ache only in the middle right above his belly button??? As it got progressively worse he finally decided to go to the hospital to get it checked out. After lots of tests and a few types of medicine they still weren't sure what was causing it. So, when all else fails, go in and check it out. They did an exploratory surgery and ended up taking out his appendix on June 3rd. The pain was in the wrong spot for that, but the Dr. thought it was best to take it out while he was in there. It was Jake's very first surgery, and went pretty well. It took him an unusually long time to come out of the anesthesia, but the nurse said they probably just over-estimated to make sure he was good and unconscious. He was groggy for hours and hours afterward and his Oxygen levels were up and down randomly. Somehow it solved the problem and Jake is doing just dandy. Back to his old self again (oh dear....help!!! hahaha) To sum it up, he wasn't quite as lucky as the guy in the second cartoon, but he thanks to the miracles of modern medicine - he only missed one full day of work and he is will be headed to Canada next week. Huh! Go figure.
