6th Day of Christmas

[6 Towels - We used 2 Big Bath Towels for the parents and 3 little hooded bath towels for the little girls. Then threw in a hand towel to make it 6]

At first glance a towel is not much to stop and think about
You get a new one now and then; You throw the old one out
But reflect for just a second on the towel and what it does
Not only what it has come to be, but also what it was

Towels hanging in our bathrooms, or washing all the dishes
For scrubbing down the floor; Used mostly by the Mrs.
Necessity for any Mom to wipe the tears of her child
Helping with all the bumps and cuts until the kid has smiled

What about the Physician, binding a wounded limb
Consider that man bleeding and the difference it made to him
A lost and weary traveler wipes the sweat from his brow
The soft towel on his face is a comfort for him now

So what is the significance – is there a pattern to be seen?
All of these examples – what exactly do they mean?
In each instance you can see that helping is involved
A person giving to another to get their problem solved

Go back many years now, to a different time and place
Another man with a simple towel, and kindness on His face
It is Jesus serving his fellowman; drying disciples feet
Humbly He performs this act as a symbol profound and sweet

As seen in the hands of our Savior, a towel can be a tool
To practice service as He did; This lesson is a jewel
Just an idea to contemplate and from this new thoughts will stem
6 Towels given in love - do what you will with them.
